Touch A Truck
Sunday July 8, 2012 from 10am to 2pm, Engine 38 joined other fire, police, and emergency service vehicles at the Haverford Reserve property. This was for the 4th annual Touch A Truck fundraiser for the Freedom Playground.

Vehicle Fire
On July 3 at approximately 11:15pm, Oakmont Fire Company wasdispatched to 450 Ardmore Ave (Merion Golf Corse) for a vehicle fire. On arrival the engine compartment was fully involved. The company was able to quickly extinguish the fire, and no injuries were reported. The company became available at 11:39pm. The apparatus on scene Engine 38, Squad 38, and Rescue 38.
Oakmont Fire Company’s Annual July 4th Celebration
The Oakmont Fire Company will be having it’s annual July 4th Celebration on Wednesday. The bike parade will start at 11am at the firehouse, with registration starting at 10:30am. Hotdogs, pretzels, drinks, and games to follow at Grassland Park.
Storm keeps Oakmont busy
On Friday June 22nd at 6:32pm the company was dispatched to 2744 County Line Road for a water rescue. Reports were multiple cars stuck in the water. Ladder 38 was first on scene and all but one car was still in the water, with no immediate danger to the occupant. When clearing from the water rescue, the company was again dispatched this time for a Fire Alarm at 2601 Hirst Terrace. While responding to the alarm the company was for a third time dispatched this time to 41 Campbell Ave for a house struck by lighting. Engine 38 responded to the fire alarm, while Ladder 38, Squad 38, and Rescue 38 responded to the house stuck by lighting. The company went available at 7:04pm.
Vehicle Fire
On Monday June 18th at 6:15pm the company was dispatched to 601 Haverford Road for a vehicle fire. Police were first on location along with 38-9B (Sava)and reported the engine compartment was fully involved. Squad 38 went on scene and used the front 1 ¾ line putting the fire out. Other apparatus on location was Engine 38. Company went available at 6:36pm.

Congratulations Scholarship Winners
Oakmont Fire Company would like to congratulate four of its members on receiving scholarships awards from The Main Line Chamber of Commerce. Engineer Christopher Baca and Firefighter Dominic Marino received $1500 scholarships each, while Junior Firefighter Zachary Silver and Firefighter John Sweeney received $1000 scholarships each. The company would like to wish theses members the best of luck in their academic studies.
Company Celebrates 100th Anniversary
On Saturday June 9, Oakmont Fire Company celebrated its 100th Anniversary with a parade through the Oakmont local. Participating in the parade were Company 34 (Llanerch), Company 35 (Brookline), Company 58 (Bon Air), and Company 56 (Manoa) of Haverford Township. As well as trucks from Broomall, Bryn Mawr, Clifton Heights, Collingdale #1, Garrettford Drexel Hill, Gladwyne, Holmes, and Middletown. Also in the parade were the American Legion Manoa Post 667, The Greater Overbrook Sting Band, and the Philadelphia Police and Fire Pipes and Drums. The Oakmont members would like to thank all the companies that attended the festivities and for the residents that came out to watch, and celebrated back at the station.
Congratulations William G. Hatton Sr.
The Company would like to congratulate Retired Chief William G. Hatton Sr. on being named Chief Emeritus of the Oakmont Fire Company. Chief Hatton has served the company for 46 years, 20 of those serve as Chief. Not only is he the longest tenured Chief of the company, he is also the top call runner of all time with over 8400 calls and counting. The company would like to thank Chief Hatton on his continued service with the company and is an inspiration to us all.
