102nd Banquet

On Saturday November 1st Oakmont held their 102nd Banquet at Llanerch Country Club. It was a full night of dinner, dancing and awards. Those who were honored were Joseph Chester for 45 years of service. William Hatton Jr, James McGoldrick and Stephen Talarico were awarded for 30 years of service. Corey Hatton received an award for 15 years of service. Retired Chief Robert McGoldrick was honored for his 7 years as Chief from 2008-2013. At the conclusion of the awards the two recipients of the William G Hatton Sr award were Kurt Nyhart and Richard Temple. The evening was a great time and a chance for the members and their wives and girlfriends to enjoy a night out.

Training

On Monday night, Oakmont took advantage of a great training opportunity. Drills were run using a house on Winton Avenue scheduled for demolition. Crews practiced roof ventilation and search and rescue. Thanks to Rayer Builders for allowing access to the house.

Thank you.

Oakmont received a banner of appreciation from Cardinal Foley PS and PK students. We hung the banner in the firehouse to display the artwork. It is always nice to receive a “thank you” to help remind us how important a job firefighting is.

Cub Scouts Visit

On Thursday, October 16th, the Cub Scouts Troop 500 from Coopertown visited the firehouse.
The troop learned about fire prevention, the dos and don’ts of fire safety and got up close to the fire trucks and equipment. It was a fun night for them and we hope they shared the fire safety tips with their families.

Congratulations!

We would like to congratulate Chris Smith and his wife Stephanie on their wedding this past weekend. Oakmont wishes you both a lifetime of happiness and love. Congratulations!

Cancer Awareness Night

The Haverford High football team held its 2nd annual Cancer Awareness game this past Friday night. As a way of supporting the team in their endeavor to raise cancer awareness, as well as supporting cancer patients and their families within our community and the Oakmont family, Oakmont purchased a pink jersey with the #1 on the back. The pink jersey was worn during the game by a Haverford player. After the game a group of firefighters from Oakmont went onto the field and the player presented the jersey to the firehouse. This was a great way to raise money and awareness to fight this horrible disease that has taken so many. Oakmont was proud to participate in this event.
