Just after 1 pm on January 22nd, Company 38 and Engine 35 were dispatched to the 800 blk of Aubrey Avenue for smoke coming from the dwelling.  Police arrived quickly and confirmed heavy smoke from the 2nd floor front. 38-9B (Sava) arrived and confirmed the police report and ordered Squad 38, under the direction of Deputy Maguire, to go into service upon their arrival. Ladder 38 went into service with ventilation and as a back up crew to the Squad. Engine 35, under the direction of Chief Viola, was ordered to establish a water supply to Squad 38. Fire/Police transmissions 826 Aubrey Ave

On January 13th, 2009 around 0830 hours Company 38 was dispatched to 1911 Darby Road for an investigation. While enroute the FD was advised of possible carbon monoxide build up in the residence. On arrival of 38-9 (McGoldrick) he was greeted with (3) three victims on the ground in front of the quadreplex. He immediately summoned for the EMS to respond which brought Medic 108, 108a, 34-7, 34-7a, 56-7 and 56-7a.

On inital contact the residents were complaining of symptoms associated with exposure to CO (carbon Monoxide). Fireifghters quickly discovered levels of CO surpassing 240 ppm. The building was quickly ventilated and an urgent call went out to PeCO. The victims were all transported to local hospitals for treatment. Company 38 returned to service just after 0930 hours. Units on scene: Squad 38, Ladder 38, 34-7, 34-7a, 56-7, 56-7a, Medic 108, Medic 108a, HTPD, HT Fire Police and PECO.

On January 7th, 2009 the Oakmont Fire Company, along with numerous other local fire companies, participated in Channel 6’s “Operation 6: Save a Life” smoke detector give away program. Oakmont has been participating in this program for the last 8 years and we appreciate the sponors of the program who recognize fire safety/prevention in the home as a priority.

Just after 0330 hours Companies 38 and Engine 35 were dispatched to 2716 Sunnybrook Lane for a building fire. While en route police had arrived and reported heavy smoke showing and requested EMS for a victim with smoke inhalation. Chief 38 arrived shortly thereafter and confirmed the same report. Chief 38 assumed command and had Rescue 58 dispatched for the air unit.
Squad 38 went into service upon their arrival. Ladder 38 assisted the Squad with ventilation and a back up line. Engine 35 established a water supply and laid in to Squad 38. The balance of the responding units (Engine 38, Foam 35 and Rescue 38) arrived and had their manpower assemble out front of the fire building and await an assignment.
The fire was quickly contained and necessitated lengthy overhaul of the kitchen, dining room and living room areas. Companies returned to service at 0610 hours.  A special thanks to Pipeline 58 for covering the “tent.” Next time we’ll leave the keys to the double wide trailer….

Picture # 1 is the roof with all of the shingles installed. Picture #2 is the West side of the building that has the finish block completed. The brick work will start soon and be completed in a couple of weeks.
