Company Makes Quick Work of Oven Fire
Just before 22:00 on Friday, March 9th Company 38, 35 and Medic 108 were dispatched to the 100 block of Golf House Rd. for a building fire. Squad 38 arrived on location to find an oven Mitt, which had made its way to the broiler pan causing the fire. Prior to the Squads arrival a fire extinguisher was used to control the small fire. The residence, which was above a set of detached garages was filled with smoke. The crews of the Squad and Ladder fully extinguised the fire and ventilated the residance, as the assignment was held to those two pieces. The company was returned to service within the hour.
Passing of a Member
It is with great sadness that we relay the news of Steve Tiberio’s passing today. Steve served the fire company and community as a firefighter, an engineer, and board member over the course of his 31 year career. But more importantly he was also a great friend and dedicated husband and father. Steve had battled illness with courage and even in his most difficult moments set the example for all of us on how to push on through our troubles and work to do what we love and care about. Team Super Steve will be walking as planned on the 31st of this month in Ambler, PA at Wissahickon High School in support of the fight against Mesothelioma. Steve’s memory will certainly carry on in the long rich history of Oakmont Pride and we wish his family all the best as we mourn the loss but celebrate the man along with them.
Celebration!
We would just like to remind everyone that we are inviting the community to celebrate our 100th Anniversary with the crew on June 9th when we hold our centennial parade. The parade route has not been officially announced yet, so check back often for new details. This event will be the culmination of our plans to celebrate the volunteer service that has been dedicated to the community by the fire company over these past 100 years. So be sure to take part in helping us mark the moment in our proud history.
