Memorial Day 2020

Today we pause to remember the sacrifices made by all those who have given their lives in service to this country, and those who are on the front lines today. This Memorial Day is a little different, as we are not able to meet in person for our traditional ceremony at the firehouse. Over the years, the Oakmont Fire Company has lost five members, both in war, and in the line of duty. They are:
Hoseman George T Watts
Hoseman William J Shader Jr Hoseman William L Nunan
Captain Martin J Basile
Chief Ernest F Heimberger
Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice for us. We can never repay that debt.
Also, since last Memorial Day, the following members have passed away. They are gone but will never be forgotten:
Life Member Ronald O’Connor
Dr William S Myers
President John J Stretch
Safety Officer Richard Reeves

Standby at Narberth

Early this morning, Engine 38 made the response to Narberth Fire Company while Lower Merion Township companies operated at a multiple alarm fire at an apartment complex. The Engine stood by for two an a half hours covering Narberth, until being released.

A Message from the Chief

The Oakmont Fire Company laid to rest Life Member/Safety Officer Richard “Rickey” Reeves on Thursday . Rickey dedicated 30 years of his life to Oakmont and the citizens of Haverford Township. Safety Officer Rick Reeves

The Oakmont Fire Company regrets to announce the death of Life Member and Safety Officer Rick Reeves. Ricky, as he was known around the firehouse, was a 30 year active member who served as Firefighter and Engineer, in addition to his current role as Safety Officer. Ricky was known for being able to always brighten up any room he entered. His sense of humor, and dedication to the firehouse and residents of Havertown will be missed. Rest Easy dear friend, we will take it from here.

Linden Drive

Last Thursday evening the company was dispatched to Linden Drive for a building fire. Assistant 38 arrived on scene and found smoke showing from an unoccupied residence. Several Haverford Township Fire Companies responded/assisted on the fire, along with Narberth EMS and Haverford PD. The fire was placed under control within an hour.

Remembering President Stretch.

This past weekend we laid to rest our President, John J. Stretch III. The amount of people that showed up to wish John farewell was amazing. It reinforces how great of a man he was and that he positively impacted so many lives. We were truly honored to have had John serve our community through our organization. Rest In Peace dear friend. We will take it from here.
