Bryn Mawr Ladder 23 and Oakmont Engine 38 arrived and placed 1 3/4 water lines in service containing the fire to the stairway section of the building. Additional resources were called in for the safety of the firemen and and air bank along with EMS for the firemen safety. There was smoke and water damage to the entire building. The fire is listed as Not suspicious and is being investigated by the Haverford Township Police Departments Investigation Division. The Incident Command was Oakmont Fire Chief Robert McGoldrick.

Oakmont Fights Haverford House Fire 780 Millbrook Lane
Chief 38-9 reported fire in the basement of a three story single family dwelling. Crews placed multiple hand line in service to the interior. Command requested the second alarm struck
A special call was made for Ladder 35 (Brookline), Engine 56 (Manoa), Montco Engine 23 (Bryn Mawr), Rehab unit from Narberth Ambulance.

Cover Assignment
At approximately 21:15 Squad 38 (Oakmont) along with Ladder 36 (Conshohocken) were dispatched to Radnor Fire Company for a cover up assignment. Crews were then dispatched to the fire scene at 307 Hilldale Rd in Villanova for man power and overhaul operations. Crews were available from the scene around 23:30
Oakmont Comes Home With a Win
For the past month crew members have been working hard detailing the ladder truck for a housing of Upland Fire Company’s new truck. For the crew all their hard work paid off when they came home with two 1st place trophy’s. One for Best Appearing Ladder/Quint and the other for Best appearing All Red Apparatus.

Passing of a Life Member
It is with great admiration that Oakmont Fire company celebrates the life of Former Chief Raymond Keller Jr. Chief Keller was a 50 year member of the company and thirty year member of the Haverford Township Police Department. His commitment to serving the people of Haverford Township was both inspirational and nothing short of exemplary. Joining Oakmont in 1951 “Ray” held the positions of Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, Assistant Chief, Chief, and Director. His time in the fire service spanned enough years to serve the length of two life memberships with the company and two and half life membership of the Haverford Township Relief Association. Chief Keller was also a member of the Delaware County Fireman’s Association and his legacy is carried on by his son, Firefighter/EMT Raymond “Skip” Keller III. The Chief was laid to rest at St. Denis Cemetery in Havertown with full firefighter’s honors and a police honor guard. His family asks that any contributions be made to either Oakmont Fire Company or The March of Dimes at the attn. of DRFR 1275 Mamaronieck Avenue, White Plains, NY 10605.
Cover Assignment Leads to Rescue in Radnor
While numerous companies from the tri-county area went to work on a commercial building fire in Radnor Township, Ladder 38 was requested along with Company 46 (Rocky Run) to cover Radnor for additional calls shortly after 12:00 PM. The companies responded to two calls in their time at the 15 house. Ladder 38 responded to a fire alarm and an elevator rescue call with confirmed entrapment on the 100 block of Lancaster Avenue. Upon arrival, a male occupant was found in good condition and freed from the car at 1:55 PM.
Standby for Peco
On July 31st, Contractors struck a four inch gas main at the intersection of Taylor Lane and Tunbridge Road. Engine 38 responded at 8:07 AM with Peco already en route. Upon fire crew’s arrival, utilities were quickly secured as the suppression team stood by without further incident. The Engine was available by 8:51 AM.
Company Called in for Man Power
On July 6th, the fire company was called upon to respond to a building fire reported on the unit block of Langhorne Avenue. Upon arrival at 7:27 PM, police reported heavy fire on the C side of the building with traffic blocking access from Darby Road. Fortunately, all occupants were accounted for by police and along with Company 34 (Llanerch), Company 35 (Brookline) and Company 58 (Bon Air) fire crews went to work. Firefighters from Oakmont’s Engine 38 were sent to the second floor to suppress the flames and eventually overhaul the area with the fire placed under control shortly thereafter. No injuries were reported.
